Kairo: Why did he go through the door?

So this cinema also known as "Pulse" I have actually sent he american version first. Let me start by saying that the American version has alot more jump scare tactics rather than the feeling with dread that the Japanese version does. With that of the way I would say that I greatly prefer the Japanese version because I think it touches and addresses alot of the social issues that comes with suicide within the culture. I do have to say though the moment I was like are you fucking kidding me was when Ryosuke went into the red taped door. Like it was one of those moments that you just find yourself commenting on how dumb this choice could possibly be for EVERYONE involved. Probably the most frustrating thing about it in all honesty. Looking back I love the way they just portray ghosts in jhorror. In this movie they especially use it as the slow moving ghost which also begs the question as to why not most of them run? I think it truly encompasses fear and what it means to be afraid. 

 I wish they would explain the red tape thing more. Perhaps I didn't catch It the first time around but the only time it is addressed is with the printer and it saying that it keeps them out. But why? Does it go back to a cultural thing? Does it have any meaning beyond that? Some theories have it that it isn't protection at all but the ghosts telling people to do this to act as a portal because they need more entrances into the world. Judging from the movie I would also come to this conclusion because the red taped rooms lead to nothing but bad for those who enter. Originally I thought it was to trap them in but I think it is more to create a portal that ghosts can wait in.

The Burrowers: Western Meets Horror

This is probably one of my favorite horror movies that I have seen yet to date in terms of seeing something new with horror. I loved this movie- and it was due to purely its concept. Not only does it address it's racism of the time and doesn't try to avoid it with both African American's and Native Americans- but actually addresses it. Without spoiling anything because I encourage anyone who is a fan of monster movies to watch it, my favorite part was just the attention to detail on all the characters and the reaction. No one is doing western horror. I have no idea why because there is so much that can be done with the concept and it is such a time of discovery and bandits and really hits home with those who grew up watching those old spaghetti western that could really speak to an older audience. 1. What was your reaction to what you just read? Well I guess I am left in awe a bit. Like it is a feeling of dread and yet at the same time it is a feeling of complacence. Like the whole being used as a breading ground is interesting because it seems there is a bond that is formed between the Tlic and those Terrans who become N'Tlic. Like it is a survival thing on both ends and all highly political. Like I agree with Gan that if this is the process it should be normalized so that it isn't so shocking in the end. Yes, it is private but Terran's should know what they are getting into. Like the Terrans need the Tlic to survive and thrive this world. I don't know. The Martian: Potatoes, Poop, and Pioneers -

I am not a huge fan of reading science fiction, rather it has been such a long time since I ever read any science fiction in the slightest. I mean, I think the last piece of literature I actually read on the matter is Ender's Game and lets just say after about hearing about the author I didn't touch another book in the series. So the Martian, proved to be very interesting to me in the sense I wanted to keep reading it. Now the genre itself is super appealing to me. I love space things and anything to do with the future. I love talking about where our world is heading tech wise- etc. The Martian specifically should just be a lesson to everyone how you must survive and hopefully, you have former crew members and some competent people willing to come for you after getting stuck on literally another planet.
