Carved: Child Abuse at it's finest

Carved is a Japanese horror film that is all about child abuse. I actually really enjoyed this movie because not only was it all about bringing awareness to a relevant issue but it focused on the supernatural entity as an idea rather than actual creature. An idea that would infect others causing them to commit hanses acts. I mean, yes, in the end it was a ghost and the introduction to the teacher/son was a tad odd overall but the idea that the more a rumor spreads and grows the more real it becomes I thought was an interesting point. It goes into a lot of fables and the origins of them and how do these stories get started? Well someone tells someone and that person tells another and so on and so forth. I like that which touches on the roots of the topic. Like also in alot of Japanese tales the Japanese are ot afraid to show violence towards children which I think is definitely interesting as compared to our westernized culture where generally the child or children end up safe in the en

The Burrowers: Western Meets Horror

This is probably one of my favorite horror movies that I have seen yet to date in terms of seeing something new with horror. I loved this movie- and it was due to purely its concept. Not only does it address it's racism of the time and doesn't try to avoid it with both African American's and Native Americans- but actually addresses it. Without spoiling anything because I encourage anyone who is a fan of monster movies to watch it, my favorite part was just the attention to detail on all the characters and the reaction. No one is doing western horror. I have no idea why because there is so much that can be done with the concept and it is such a time of discovery and bandits and really hits home with those who grew up watching those old spaghetti western that could really speak to an older audience. I just think it is amazing. Like Red Dead Redemption the game had such a wide reception that I think that it is a genre that isn't really addressed in the more modern literatu

Kairo: Why did he go through the door?

So this cinema also known as "Pulse" I have actually sent he american version first. Let me start by saying that the American version has alot more jump scare tactics rather than the feeling with dread that the Japanese version does. With that of the way I would say that I greatly prefer the Japanese version because I think it touches and addresses alot of the social issues that comes with suicide within the culture. I do have to say though the moment I was like are you fucking kidding me was when  Ryosuke went into the red taped door. Like it was one of those moments that you just find yourself commenting on how dumb this choice could possibly be for EVERYONE involved. Probably the most frustrating thing about it in all honesty. Looking back I love the way they just portray ghosts in jhorror. In this movie they especially use it as the slow moving ghost which also begs the question as to why not most of them run? I think it truly encompasses fear and what it means to be afra

Train To Busan: Best Zombie Movie Ever

I LOVED this movie. Let me start by saying that I have seen a handful of zombie movies but this by far had my heart from the beginning. If anyone is looking for a movie that is both heart wrenching and makes you care for just about all the characters this is the movie for you. It is a nice refreshing take on zombies as well with less focus on the why and more on the present situation. It also goes into the relationship of parents and children. I was so upset when the man with the pregnant wife died but I also loved how it showed the original father the value of sacrifice and how he himself appeared to others in the form of the business man character. WHO WAS THE WORST I MIGHT ADD. This film was shot beautifully as well not to mention the child actor they had she was absolutely on point. This movie had me personally on the edge of my seat the entire time- and to my surprise did not end terribly. I was completely expecting every single person to perish but I think in the end it ended p
