Gosh, I love Harry Potter and the series. My mother read me these books to me as a child and I remember loving them then and even now they still hold up. For me, this book is truly a demonstration of how wonderful imagination and magic can be. First off I really admire J.K. Rowling as a writer in the modern era and just who she is as a person. (Bringing attention to our incompetent president on a platform he has no business on.)
But back to Harry Potter. Harry Potter I think in and of itself is a great book for escapism for children honestly. For those who go through abuse or feel as though they are an outcast the book makes you feel as though there is something more out there. She writes Harry as a awkward troubled young Man who struggles with the death of his parents living in an abusive household that is introduced to this magical world. I think perhaps that is why I liked it so Much as a child because of the relatable. Because even though Harry was given the short end of the stick so to speak being an orphan, he overcame that and entered into this beyond magical realme where he makes friends and overcomes adversity.
